inexpensive and workI finally got to use the mini cranks I bought for a sort of DIY MTB slam sort of challenge. True the hooks do catch on each other. You'll probably want to change them anyways for better hooks. Other than that they're great.

Panfish hit this lure like a truck! This is an outstanding little crank bait that panfish chase like piranhas on a chicken wing! Its a ton of fun with an ultra light set up. As others have said, the front and rear hook like to tangle up. I have had real good success by removing the original treble hooks completely. Then I use both split rings on the eye for the front hook and attach a larger #8 Gamakatsu treble hook on the second split ring. The hook now rides a little further to the rear, just past the back of the lure. It doesn't effect the action of the lure and it no longer gets fouled up. The slightly bigger hook is stronger, crappie have no problem swallowing it, and it can still get sucked up by the larger bluegills. I have had great success with the firetiger color.

Great plugI like to use a product a while before I offer an opinion. Of the baits in my box these have been one of the most consistent. They have taken about every thing in the lakes which includes bluegills, sunfish, perch, crappie, bass and Northern Pike. Due to the Northern's I use a short steel leader that I make otherwise they would cut them off. The two colors I have used are the perch and black gold, really can't say one is better than the other.
Learned quick to remove the front hook and replace the rear with a larger hook. This avoids tangling and does not seem to effect the hooking ability of the lure. I have 2 other lures that this one is similar to and cost more that do not seem to be as effective.

Disappointed in quality. Save up for a Bitsy. These look very similar to Bitsy Minnows at about half the cost (on sale). I ordered a few in different colors and tried the Fire Tiger first. Looks great, casts great, needed a little tuning due to swimming to the right. Wait, no, now it's swimming to the left. About 5 more tries and it sort of swims straight. Never could get it right. I can live with that, but the real problem is the treble hooks are spaced too close together and ensnare one another on many casts. At least mine had this problem. You can't "tune" the screw eyes to fix this, so my choice is to remove one hook, which makes this less effective as a crank bait. Live and learn, I guess. I'll just stick with Bitsy Minnows in the future.

Fantastic little lureBass Pro Shops XTS Micro Light Mini Crankbaits are fantastic little lures. I bought a few of these for my daughter to use in a little creek near our house. Figured it was a good way to transition her from hook and bobber being it floats and is a shallow swimmer. I had no idea it would produce like it has...... ended up ordering all colours. We love them.

umbrella rig perfectionPut them on a ultra light umbrella rig, bring it off the bottom about three feet, and the huge slab crappie literally inhale them. Have caught several times, up to three crappie at once. Best total weight today, are seven crappie with a combined weight of 27 lbs. and 9 ounces.

Small but deadlyI bought this lure for my niece, who just started fishing. In the lake close to her house, the spot she can get to is shallow, so right now in the summer the bigger fish are not around there.
We were having a though time catching anything on regular lures, so I figured she would have a better chance with this one.
It swims shallow, so she didn't get hung up all the time, like she was with the 1/2lb rat-l-trap she was using.
In a couple of days, it got bitten by a very small bass, all sizes of bream and a small perch.
It castes just ok from her medium-light rod, probably a light or ultra-light would cast it better. But after she caught her very first fish, she was very happy and excited, if she like fishing before she had even caught anything, now she loves it.
This little lure, just made her summer.
what kind of fish the Mini Crankbait da Bass Pro. can be used????

is this a suspending, floating, or a sinking crainkbait?
Asked by: breauxjp
Floating. I add a small split shot about six inches above it when I want it deeper. Works perfect and creates no performance issues.

what are the best colors for stained water
Asked by: jnrc1988
Normally darker colors tend to work better on stained water, doesn't mean that natural colors won't work, but sometimes that dark color helps fish find it a lot easier.

How deep do these dive?
Asked by: go4bass
They don't dive that deep, but a small split show about six inches above tie on will take them as deep as you want. Just let it drop until you are ready. Works perfectly with split shot added.

What Color will work well in Ohio?
i already have the Lime Scale color but want to get one more what color would best mimic Ohio minnows Blue Chrome or Black Chrome?
Asked by: Mavman777
There isn’t really a “Best” color to use when fishing. One color may work better one time but not as well the next time you fish. So, when selecting a lure color take a look at your surrounds (landscape and wildlife) to determine the color of lure to use. If the water is dark and murky (or stained) use bright and/or fluorescent colors that can draw the fish’s attention to the lure. If the water is clear, look around if the area and use colors which blend with the surrounds. If the area is rocky use a brown, tan, or a similar color. If there is grass and weeds then use more of the green colors. Each location will be different so try a good range of colors. Thank you for your question.

how well do these work in the creeks?
i just bought a couple of these.
Asked by: creekfishin
I use them on anything that lives in creeks with depth of less than a foot, to depths of up to eight feet. Unless you're finicky about what you catch, you'll be happy. They'll catch anything with a mouth and an appetite. PERFECT for bored children who never seem to catch anything. My great grand children actually quit when they get tired. Perhaps one of the most flawless small baits I've ever seen.

The hooks hang up on each other ... Is there a solution?
Asked by: SmithCreek
I've never had that problem unless throwing in wind. But, it's easily done to simply change to one size smaller hook. A cheap split ring tool and countless smaller hooks available work great.
