Weak actionMy dad purchased one of these for an upcoming trip to Lake Fork. He tied it on the first day and worked for about a half hour trying to get it to produce some kind of attractive action, but to no avail. The tail barely kicks, and only if you reel it with a fairly quick retrieve- not ideal for a swimbait. Spend a little more and get a Sebile, Lucky Bug Zombie Maxx, or one of the many other options available. My dad's Z9R has been relegated to hanging from the mouth of a mounted fish as decoration.

give it more of a chanceI bought this thing as a joke to show people but my buddy talked me into using it and i couldnt be happier. I caught so many bass from 2plds to 5. They say it swims better when you take the back hook off which is true but you'll miss more fish. Some people say it swims with no action, but think of when a baitfish doesn't see the bass it doesnt let off a lot of comotion. A great retreive is to work it kinda like a jerkbait or stop and go. People just need to fish it more.

Good SwimbaitI got the XPS Z9R Mini Swimbait in the Shad color for my dad. We've only been able to use it once and that was at a little public pond called Dolese. We were out there for about an hour and a half with the fish jumping the whole time but none would bite it. Not sure if it was because it is repulsive to fish or they just weren't hungry.
This swimbait looked very realistic in the water! It's tail action is magnificent! The only complaint I have is that when you go to cast it out it might get tangled with the line. But I guess that happens with all lures! I will definately try my luck with it again.

xps z9r swimbaitsi have this lure and i have used it a few times and i got no fish it swims like a piece of wood no matter how i try to retrive it fast slow or twitch or even a moderate retrive gets me no action. its durable and thats about it. also its cost is high.

excellentI used teh XPS Z9R mini swimbait this weekend for the first time and got alot of enjoyment using it. It has really great swimming action and it's easy to use. This is a great bait and i'm ready to catch a big one using it!

Great LureI purchased two of these swinbats and the first time out on the Potomac River I caught 3 largemouth bass and one large Snakehead - over 4 pounds and 23" long. So I would say it works pretty well. Can't wait to go out again.

Stick in the WaterI bought a handful of these while I was in Afghanistan waiting to come home. I was hoping to kill the small mouth and pike on them at Lake of the Woods. Finally get home in April 10' get to Canada June 10' and it was th first lure I tied on. These baits are the biggest waste of my time. Its like a stick in the water that sinks slowly. No matter if I retrieve fast, slow, moderate, or twitch it, there is no action at all. I have been super impressed with all of bass pro's line up of tackle, with the exception of this.

best swimbait ever.This swimbait is the best Ive used hands down. Ive caught everything from little 6inch bass up to 6pound monsters. They dont break as easily as other jointed swimbaits.
I have had the best luck casting it in shallow water to maybe 15 ft and letting it hit bottom and rip it fast and slow it just depends how the fish are reacting to the conditions.

I cast it an reel it back in slowly. Sometimes i'll give it a little jerk. The bass seem to like that.

I wouldn't use weight - it would alter the action. they do sell lead tape that can be put on any bait. You may also solder some lead on the bottom of the bait.

Each fishing location will be different; even each trip to the same area might have different results so there isn’t really a “Best” color to use when fishing. One color may work better one time but not as well the next time you fish. So, when selecting a lure color take a look at your surrounds (landscape and wildlife) to determine the color of lure to use. If the water is dark and murky (or stained) use bright and/or fluorescent colors that can draw the fish’s attention to the lure. If the water is clear, look around if the area and use colors which blend with the surrounds. If the area is rocky use a brown, tan, or a similar color. If there is grass and weeds then use more of the green colors. Each location will be different so try a good range of colors. Thank you for your question.

How deep can these dive to, and at what depth do they hold?

Thank you for your inquiry. These lures don't have a maximum diving depth. They will continue to sink until you begin to retrieve them.
