Q&A
Our experts are impressed with the sculptured, naturally shaped body designs, the lifelike 3-D lazer eyes, the extra-loud rattles—and especially the hot finishes that replicate the natural colorization process (becoming more pronounced in direct sunlight, and somewhat less intense under the surface). All styles of the Bass Pro Shops® XPS® Floating Minnow are equipped with premium extra-sharp hooks. Whenever game fish are feeding on slender baitfish, this is the minnowbait to reach for! Longer and slimmer to mimic everything from shiners to creek chubs. Very realistic.

Amazing trout lure...replace hooks!Definitely would give his lure 5-stars if it weren’t for the hooks. Any fish larger than 2+ pounds will straighten hooks super easy. Bass Pro has a dynamite bait here, but could benefit from charging a little more for them if they started using quality hooks. I spent extra $ to upgrade to good hooks, and now couldn’t ask for a better lure for trout. I’ve used multiple colors in the smallest size for countless quality trout...highly recommend getting a few of these for your ultralight supply!

Good Winter Time PickerelWent down to Bass Pro about three weeks ago and picked up this in the Chrome/Black and Sexy Shad. My buddies were throwing everything under the sun. I tied this on and kept with it. Caught two fish with it, and they caught nothing. Slow retrieve: Jerk, 7 second rest, Jerk etc. These got bites when nothing else would.

XPS Floating minnow.I always have one of these baits tied on to one of my poles. This bait only runs about a foot deep which is great for covering a lot of shallow water quickly. I fish this lure like a jerk bait and it absolutely slays fish. There is some down sides. They should be using a smaller split ring on it. The split ring inconveniently will fold down and catch up on the bill on occasion. That will cause the lure to run wrong and waste your casts and potentially cost you fish if you are a tourney guy. . For the price of the lure putting on a smaller split ring is a easy trade off. The other issue is the hooks are pretty cheap quality but again because of initial price replacing the hooks after a while is a good trade off. I would put the quality of the lure up with the yo-zuri that is very similar but because of the price this is the best overall smaller jerk bait I have fished with.

Good actionThese lures catch fish but You need to get some 4x strong hooks on them!Lost a good fish today because one of the hooks broke on the front treble and another straightened out on the rear treble! I usually change out the hooks before use but forgot to today. I will continue to buy them but wish You would either put on quality hooks or sell them without hooks

XPS MinnowI have not been able to try them out yet because of high water but they sure look like something a fish would eat. Only use will tell but I do think that they will catch fish. I will up date after use.

Got strikes with this ...Inshore trolling from a kayak ... Was not sure if this lure would work. After reading some positive reviews, I purchased three typical minor colors.
Con: When the lures arrived, I concur with some other reviews; the hooks were too small along with the rings.
I changed the hooks to stronger and upped the ring size. Trolling inshore, small barracuda's were hitting the lure consistently. So, it does catch fish. I recently changed the rear treble to size 8 VMC SureSet treble; large hook of the treble facing up as recommended by VMC. Did not want to go any bigger than #8's fearing it will affect the lures swim action.

Contact your local BPS Retail Store and speak to someone at the Fishing Dept. They should be able to assist bases on your location, type of fish , ect.

What is the treble size on the 2 3/4" minnow?
Asked by: Ray01
In-shore ocean kayak troll: I would say, size 10 weak trebles came with the lures. I upped the size to size 8 trebles fearing any bigger, it may affect the swim action. I also put a VMC SureSet treble on the tail with larger hook facing up as recommended by VMC. Caught small barracudas with the green back color..

Is this a good lure for Smallmouth and Rainbow trout.
Asked by: Creekmaster
Thank you for your inquiry. Trout may strike this lure immediately after spawn when they (and most fish) are most ravenous. Smallmouth bass will definitely take this lure.
