Good deal, seems durable. Time will tell.I bought three (3) of these today at my local Cabela's per a "Special Buy" ad I received in the mail that expired today. I think the ad was misleading, as it said "A $59.99 value!". I didn't know then that was retail-speak for "if you were to buy a similar (but high-end) name brand, it would cost you at least $59.99". I naively thought it meant the regular price was $59.99 and it was a REALLY "Special Buy"! Turns out as you can see from this online ad, that the regular price is $24.95...so it was just a $5.00 savings. That was disappointing, and I felt misled when I was told by store staff that that is common practice and 'industry standard advertising'.
The box feels durable. High-end similar products state what material its made of...this one doesn't even say the word 'plastic', and has the probably standard cancer-causing material warning. It feels like a very tough plastic similar to the high-end ones, but of unknown composition and therefore unknown durability. It's also NOT stated and therefore unlikely that the long metal (steel?) pins in the hinges and latches nor the rivets attaching the rubberized-grip handle are stainless steel...so they could eventually rust. The ad and product tag differ in their statement of interior dimensions. The product tag reads "Interior Dimensions 12-3/16" x 9-1/4" x 5", but the online ad reads "Interior: 11-13/16" x 8-7/8" x 5-3/16". I didn't measure one, but I think the tag might have been referencing the Exterior Dimensions? Just a guess. The foam seems no different from what came with another high-end case I purchased previously. I'm not sure how waterproof it will be compared to a higher-priced brand, as it only references protection against a 'heavy splash' (which I think rules out floating), and there are no stainless-steel protectors over the padlock holes. All in all, however, it feels tough and well-built, and you can't beat the price when compared to competitors. So I think as long as I don't expect it to survive extreme abuse like in special ops, and don't count on it for air travel since it's not metal and the composition of the plastic is unknown, I think they will fit the bill for my cameras and guns, and are a very good value.

Does this case meet the airline standards for transporting guns? It looks like plastic, so my guess is that it doesn't.

TSA guidelines stipulate that a case must be locked and hard-sided so with the proper locks this could very well comply. However this product was not made for this purpose and we suggest reaching out to the TSA before attempting to use it as such.
