The innovative Treble Guard from Bass Pro Shops® makes your favorite crankbait or spoon weedless. Simply push the treble eye into the hole in the center of the Treble Guard, and then embed each point into the end of a Treble Guard arm. If necessary, trim the length of the arms to fit your treble hooks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by bigbillogna from ...nastification... ...like...i made the sick attempt at using this part a while ago...(2005)...and i am stunned that they are still avaliable at all...!??... ...i mean....they blow~out the action of the fishbait they are riding...even when trimmed...and they have heat issues...had them melt into a blobb...glad they werent on any of my fishbaits... !!!...THIS PART IS TO BE AVOIDED...!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by KingDinger from Great Idea It’s a great idea and the reason I ordered some in the first place... but while they are great to have on your trebles on the boat... fishing with them on is another matter... the crankbaits don’t run as well with them on. As I say a brilliant idea but won’t be using them in the future.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Ghost from Set The Hook HARD For Best Results The BPS Treble Guards will keep you hooks weedless, but you will also miss fish. Great idea, but sometimes some of the hooks get exposed on a hookset, sometimes not. To be effective, you have to do a real hard hookset when using the Treble Guards. Make sure you keep your lures separate from the Treble Guards, the soft plastic will melt in w/ your plastic lures...not good.

To use this guard on a lure like a spoon or crankbait as the add suggests, you would have to remove the treble to slip the guard over the eye and then reinstall the treble on ths split ring. That is more work than the add implies. As for hooking, problems are similar to Texas rigged worms. It depends on how you cover the hook point-burrying it deep or leaving it near the surface. Is it worth the trouble? Yes, if that is the only way to achieve your presentation in weeds.
