it is not a top water poppershall we use this lure for top water? the lure consist diving down under the surface and cannot pop the water, I have to walk hard to pop it out the surface.
overall, not as expected. though cheap, I can throw it away without any regret.

Diving popperThe bait I bought likes to dive down under the surface when fished worked. I've tried adjusting the rod tip from low to high and all in between, but the bait just likes to dive instead of staying on top to pop.

UsefulI replaced the back treble with a Siwash without impacting hook ups. I use this lure when fishing choppy waters and a strike under these conditions are tremendous

Great valueThese top water poppers work great. I’ve caught bass in the 2-4 pound range, saltwater trout, red fish and jacks with these. The finish has a tendency to come off after about 5-8 fish but for the price I just repaint them with a air brush or even left over cans of spray paint. A great value lure to come up with your own custom colors and give the fish something they haven’t seen before. Popping action is good and the size is perfect for spring time bass chasing bait. Hooks are sharp to but may rust after a dozen times. Again for the price, swamping them out for new trebles still can’t beat it!

What would be a good size replacement hook?
Asked by: Jeremy10
The best is the 4x (strength) galvanized trebles, same size as those weak hooks (and rings) provided with the lures (BPS $3 Tourney popper, various colors (gold and black tiger is a killer lure in Samoa). The 4x trebles combo with 4h, #4 rings 80# strength. This combination is absolutely a must have for my type on surf-fishing in the South Pacific. Mainline - 50# braid (10# diameter), 3ft, 25# fluorocarbon, 60# or better tactical clip. BPS is not allowing me to write in manufacturer names of hooks and rings. Good luck.

Each fishing location will be different, even each trip to the same area might have different results so there isn’t really a “Best” color to use when fishing. One color may work better one time but not as well the next time you fish. So, when selecting a lure color take a look at your surrounds (landscape and wildlife) to determine the color of lure to use. If the water is clear, look around if the area and use colors which blend with the surrounds. If the area is rocky use a brown, tan, or a similar color. If there is grass and weeds then use more of the green colors. If the water is dark and murky (or stained) use bright and/or fluorescent colors that can draw the fish’s attention to the lure. Each location will be different so try a good range of colors. Thank you for your question.
