Exclusive Smart Cast Dual Centrifugal Brake
Tame the cast with a turn of the dial. The biggest and best thing that's ever happened to our reels! Our revolutionary Smart Cast Technology applies braking force outward at the beginning of the cast, then inward at the end of the cast, to control the two major backlash potentialities common in other, inferior baitcast reels. We've preset the Smart Cast system to the most commonly used setting, but you can adjust it by simply removing the sidecover and moving the braking pins. Fine tuning within each of these settings is even easier—just turn the external cast control to quickly dial in your perfect cast! When properly tuned, the Smart Cast intuitively senses the amount of braking needed to complete your cast, applying or releasing pressure accordingly for precise lure placement on every cast, with no overruns to eat up your valuable fishing time.

Nice handy reelI have bought several of these reels. Economical and reliable and I use where you catch a lot of big fish. Never had a problem with a real except not being returned when I lend them to friends.

Awesome reelI've had many casting reels and this is by far the best one yet and great for the price. I used to get birds nest all the time and now I can cast with my eyes closed lol. The settings are unbelievable.

Smooth and casts greatI just picked this up today at Bass Pro, and so far I am really impressed with this reel for the price. The retrieve is very smooth and it casts like a dream. Haven’t taken it fishing yet but just out of the box it looks great and handles like $100 reel instead of $55! Very satisfied.

Bass Pro not living up to there great reputationI bought the combo which included this real. The 1st combo I had lasted over a year. But got snagged the last time I used it and the poll broke in half and the reel failed to engage to allow me to retrieve the line and had to do it buy hand which maybe contributed to braking the poll. So I bought another combo again with same pool and reel. Went to nearby pond and on third cast the new reel failed to engage. So I’m bringing this junk back to them this week. I hope someone in there Quality Assurance Department looks into these discrepancies. Because I would hate to see reputation tarnished by producing a bad product.
Can this reel be used for inshore saltwater fishing?

What makes the fishing line ball up after I cast? It piles up on the spool and becomes a bird nest.
Asked by: kevin12
There could be a few reasons why you are getting repeated bird nests (also called backlashes).
Try set your mechanical brake for each lure or bait that you use. See https://1source.basspro.com/index.php/component/k2/237-fishing-info/1264-8-things-you-can-do-to-prevent-a-fishing-line-birds-nest

Hi, I bought a Bass Pro Tourney Special last year. I never used it then. I have been trying to set
it up. I cannot get the cover off to set internal brakes. I have watched
instructions on U-Tube. Cover won't budge. What Should I do?
Asked by: Rick W
When it says retrieve (left or right) does that meat that side the handle is on? I'm right handed but I use my left had to reel so would I want left or right?

Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, that does indicate which side you would be reeling with.

Smart Cast System
I am wondering if I understand the braking system correctly; I understand that after removing the side cover, making the initial settings with the pins and replacing the cover , ,
My question is , then when making changes to the external dial 0 thru 9 has an effect on BOTH the beginning and the end of the cast,
unlike a reel with a magnetic only dial that effects the end of the cast only.
Thank you for any clarification.

Thank you for choosing Bass Pro Shops. The Internal brakes help control the cast at the beginning of the cast, and the magnetic brakes help control the cast towards the end when it starts slowing down. I have provided a link below to a video to better describe this information.
