sounds like a "stampede"I bought this reel for an affordable ice fishing reel for panfish. The name "stampede" comes from the sound the bearings make after using it for an hour. Not happy with this purchase.

Pretty good economy reelI have one of these in the 30 and one in the 40 size, and overall I am quite pleased with them. They are smooth, and work well, and have held up to some abuse on my part. My only real knock on them is the drag; both of them have a bad habit of needing adjusted frequently, because they'll get too loose or tight on their own throughout a day of fishing. It isn't a huge problem, but it gets annoying having to fiddle with them a few times every you use them.

Good if you are on a budgetGood drag have caught about a 7 lb drum and 8 lb catfish on it and it held up well. I have 8 lb mono on it. It put it on a 6 ft medium heavy bass pro graphite series rod.

Just okThe drag dial has a lot of play to it. It wiggles at least an 1/8 of an inch. I've purchaced other BPS reels with no issues and this one was a let down. Bottom line, you get what you pay for

Good ReelI bought the SP40F, stuck it on a 6'6" Shimano MHeavy FX rod, and loaded it with 8lbs mono. Took it out to the lake a few times and caught a pair of large mouths both pretty small so I cannot attest to the reel's performance against any monsters. What I can say is that it is a lightweight attractive reel with smooth drag and overall operation. I have gotten some really nice casts out of this setup and although it doesn't have instant anti-reverse, the 32 point system has almost no back play at all. Overall it is a very good reel and for the price it is a great one. Now if I can just hook a bigger fish with it.....
what is the gears materials used to make this reel
