Rated 2 out of 5 by Steelhead55 from Weak snap I lost a very big king salmon and one of my favorite spoons because the snap on a #3 Fast-lock snap swivel failed. These are probably ok for walleye or bass, but too light duty for salmon or musky. I switched to Cross-Lock snaps that have a much higher weight rating.

Just so you know, "snail mail" really IS when it comes to getting and sending stuff to and from Hawaii. The swivels are superb when it comes to keeping line twists nil in terminal tackle, probably better than regular ball-bearing type snap swivels, regardless of price or brand name. Most of my fishing is in-shore salt water fishing for juvenile giant trevally (GT), and these guys are tough on light tackle.

What is better for bass fishing? Attach swivel/snap direct to lure from main line? Or use a Floro leader with swivel/snap attached to lure form the end of leader? Or swivel between a short leader and main line with leader attached to lure with snap or knot. What type of presentation is the use of a swivel to avoid line twist the most necessary i.e. spoons, in line spinners, plastics?

You can attach the snap directly to the lure, but this would not be optimal for presentation. We suggest attaching your swivel to the main line (snap wouldn’t be necessary) and then running a leader to the lure (about a 3’ fluorocarbon leader). Line twist comes in to play the most when using spinning reels, baitcast reels don’t have near the issue with line twist. Any lure that twists while being retrieved can cause line twist, spoons and in-line spinners are big culprits but snagging a soft plastic on a stick will cause a lot of twist when being reeled in. can you hook your lures directly to this swivel or use a leader?

I use a leader when i'm bait fishing and when I troll I hook it directly to the lure. gives you the advantage to change out quickly and I've caught fish with these methods.

Swivels can actaully mess up the action of a crank bait so I would suggest against it. I do not know what size fish and spinner you are going for so i cannot answer the second part of the question.
