One Nice UltraliteI bought this combo that was recommended by Chisesi at the Independence Bass Pro store since I was looking at all of the ultralite combos, not really the one I had been looking at but we talked about it and I thought I would give it a try since he was so up on it and I had read some reviews on different sites that said it was a good combo also. It is a nice set up the rod is very lite and sensitive and the reel is just so darn smooth that i couldnt believe it , so I am happy with the purchase. I took it out this morning to our local small lake to try it out, conditions were not the best, light sprinkle, chilly, and windy but I had to get it wet, first cast i caught a small crappie on a Rooster tail(yellow), i was a.little surprised as he hit it real close to the shore line, then i caught a small bass, a nice sized blue gill and three other crappies, one of them wasnt to bad and put up a fight, so first time out six fish none to brag about but it was fun no less.
If you are looking for an ultralite combo take a look at this one you will be pleasantly surprised with the quality and how smooth it works. I plan on taking it out as often as i can.

Rod not straightGetting ready to put some line on this new combo and noticed that the rod is crooked. After the fourth eyelet from the bottom, it veers down (towards eyelet side) and then after the fifth eyelet it veers back away from the eyelet side. Also noticed that the rod finish is smooth, except for a stretch between the fifth and sixth eyelet it is "ribbed". I bought two less-expensive combos (also BPS store-brand) on the same order as this one and those "cheaper" rods are both straight. I have never bought a crooked rod before and am really disappointed.

Time has toldI originally purchased this combo in 2016. The first ones Eva handle broke in half. The replacement has been fine. I switched out reel to a pflueger president xt. This has been a great trout rod. I would recommend this combo.

Can not beat it.Two months ago, I got the 6'6" with the 1000 reel set up for a small drop shot rig for my local ponds. I can not tell you how impressed I am with this little guy. One of the lightest and most pleasant combos I have ever used. At this point I am setting at around 400 fish give or take, primarily pan fish, bass and a ton of crappie. Nothing giant, but everything feels great with the light rod. So far, it has been very durable. I'm using it 3 to 4 times a week with thousands of casts and the reel is butter smooth. My only regret is not waiting for the the holiday sales.

Bad to the bone.I bought this little UL for pitching crickets up next to the bank. I am very happy with the way it preformed easy to cast an you can get in the tight spots with no problem. I have landed a bunch with it with no problem. This is the perfect combo for pan fish or what ever else may bite. Very good deal well worth the money.

Excellent ComboBought this spinning combo for my wife's birthday and she loves it. She caught a bluegill on her first cast and a bass on the next. I spooled it up with some 20lb test braid with a 4lb FC leader. The sensitivity is fantastic. Especially at this price. It's surprisingly lightweight. The reel has a nice and smooth action. I couldn't find any flaws in the finish or construction. Very good quality considering it's made in china. BPS has hit a homerun with this combo. I got mine on sale, shipped to the house for $58 with economy shipping and it arrived a day early.
Is this rod and reel combo good for catfish or is there another combo you would recommend?
Asked by: Catfishdrew
Although this combo would work for smaller catfish, a better combo would be the Bass Pro Shops CatMaxx Rod and Reel Spinning Combo. This combo is designed specifically for catfish. SKU 2167832

What is the difference between the 6'6 rod and the 4'8 rod. Witch one would you choose
Asked by: Reiguy2421
One is ultra light one is a light power. I would always go with the 6´6 over the 4´8. I don't really like short rods you don't have good casting distance.
