Reel drag was a real dragHad nothing but trouble with the drag staying in place. It kept loosing up so at hook set you might as well have kept the spool open. Returned it with no problems at BassPro and upgraded to another combo.

Bad reelI bought this reel 3 days ago and the drag system on the reel doesn’t work properly. I put a 1 ounce sinker on it and put the drag up,as far as it could go and the line just kept coming off.

Great ComboHad this rod for month 1/2. So far its met all my expectations. Operates smooth and has great ergonomics expected from a medium heavy rod. Took it to the beach and its held up to corrosion. I prefferd this combo over the Abu Garcia Max Pro which I returned after noticing several inconveniences in casting and reeling. This rod combo still holds its place with my other $160 Backlash Custom medium Rod with $30 Shimano Siena 2500 reel. This rod is a keeper till it gives in some years from now. I do relly on it though.
Thank you for choosing Bass Pro Shops. It does not have a hook holder.

I have been looking for a good light rod, will this rod be good for larger bass as well as trout?
Asked by: Trev7603
4-pound test line is the most commonly used line size for ultralight fishing. It's small enough to cast even the lightest lures long distances, but not so light that you risk breaking off with every head shake of a healthy bass.

I'm planning on using this as a multi-purpose game fish rod. Great Lakes salmon and trout in particular. Would this combo be able to stand such abuse?
Asked by: FishinSquatch
Does it come with line on it or do I have to buy line for it
Asked by: CWyatt
This does not come pre-spooled.

How is this for bass fishing?
Asked by: Justin896
Thank you for your inquiry. This combo should be fine for bass fishing. Be sure to choose a combo with a higher line capacity and line weight if you know you will be going after bigger bass.

Can I use braided line with this reel? for the medium and how much LB test?
Asked by: Daniel00
Thank you for your question about the Bass Pro Shops MegaCast Spinning Rod and Reel Combo. According to the manufacturer, theyI do not know why braided line could not be used on this. The reel shows line capacity of 6#=185lbs, 8#= 160yds and 10#=115yds. They are not sure what the yardage would be for Braided line.
