MCT10 reviewReview is in reference to the MCT10 reel.
Purchased reel in July 2019 and have since put about 8 days on the water. My initial impressions were that this reel looked and felt top notch. In comparison to other reels I own, the finish and construction are great. After the first use the only issue was with line twist. I suspected that I didnt spool correctly since I use the same line on multiple reels with no twist. I respooled three times with the same results.... Line twists and bird nests.
Pros:
- Reel feels solid, nice weight for an ultra light setup
- Casts smooth
- Drag works well
Cons:
- Prone to bird nests
I have respooled three times to verify if line was put on incorrectly the first time and within a few casts after respoolng the line was twisted around the spool and bail. Not sure if the line is slipping off the spool, but this is not a simple line twist issue.
- Drag clicker is a thin piece of metal and is not durable (see picture). After around 8 times out on the water the drag clicker has failed.
The cons outweigh the pros for this reel. I would not recommend this product.

Great itemNot my first Megacast and won't be my last. I have another Megast and it's over 20 years old and still going. Mega cast is a great name because it does cast far and smmoth.

Can't complain for $20, you get what you pay forYou get what you pay for. The bail spring is super weaker than third shift McDonald's coffee, so you need to ensure that you've manually closed the bail completely or this thing will birds nest like a flock of pigeons. After only a month or two of use one (I bought 2) of my reels has developed a wonderful clicking sound liked to a 1970s typecast writer.
Aside from these obvious short comings, they're great. You really can't beat them for the price. If you need to put reels on kid's poles, or you're just cheap, buy it, use it until it breaks, then buy a new one. I'm pretty sure these will break in a year or so, they just can't handle more than a season or two of use (I fish about 3 days a week, about 12-15 day a month, year round).
I bought these in a pinch and they made it into my rotation. I troll with these on a kayak with 8 pound test and flicker shads. I'm mainly catching crappie, perch, bluegill, and walleye, so no huge fish. I gave it 4 stars, because for $20 they do exactly what I ask them to do. If you're looking for the perfect reel, or one that's going to last a life time, or even a nice reel, look elsewhere. This is a cheap little reel to get you through a season.

Line twist and line bundlesSo I b ought this for a fishing trip as my previous shimano one was at the end of its life and I didn't want to drop major cash on a new one. So after buying this I spool it exactly as I spooled my other one and not 10 casts later the line comes out of the spool and I'm left with a huge nest of line. So I cut the line tie on another lure and cast out and what do I know, it happens again and then I give up buy another cheap shimano reel and spool it again the exact same way. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL with that reel or the line at all so I'm driven to believe that it's something with this reel. SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSE WHERE

Smooth Cast, Spin CastI love this reel completely. It's very smooth cranking, holds a good amount of 10 lb. line. Just the right size for my 7' one piece ugly stick. No line twists, or drop offs from the spool.
You will not be disappointed with the BPS MegaCast Spinning reel. A great reel at a great price.

Worth its valueI had the mct40 for the longest time and It has never failed on me once. It is still good for me but i needed to downsize to the smaller reel.
I just picked up the mct20 and look forward to years of using it.
If you’re looking to go fishing, you can start with this. There is absolutely no reason not to buy this over high quality brand names if you’re just out for casual fishing.
Is this reel good for salt water or fresh water or both it doesn't state in the description.
Asked by: 1each
Thank you for choosing Bass Pro Shops. This reel is designed for freshwater use, however, if it has been exposed to saltwater, the spool should be removed and the entire reel rinsed in freshwater.

I just received my reel and cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn the handle around.
Never seen one that cannot be on either side.
Any help?

In the video they fail to mention that you need to remove the nylon spacer under the locking screw and switch it to the opposite side. That way the shaft fits from the other side. You can pop it out with a small screw driver inserted into the side the handle cam out of. Be careful not to loose it. Good Luck with your MCT-10 reel.

Is there any flex in the reel stem on the MCT20? I recently purchased the Bass Pro CrappieMaxx 1000 and that reel is useless with all the flex it has.

I have a light action rod. I'm looking for light action reel. would the mct10 fit this for crappie?

I have not purchased a MegaCast Spinning Reel YET. I have a question, first. According to the photos on the web site, there is a slight gap between the spool and the front, and rear, rims. Could this not cause a possible binding of the line when casting?
