Q&A
We know how limited onboard space is, so we've developed our Bass Pro Shops® Gold Series Folding Net to help you maximize what room you have. Opens easily with one arm and one swing, and stays locked into position until the push-buttons are engaged to fold it back up. A rubberized, tangle-free netting is gentle on the fish, reducing damage to scales and minimizing slime-loss.

Weak. Too flexibleVery attractive looking net and a pretty good price. Unfortunately on the 1st decent sized fish (15lb), the extended handle bent so badly that it will not retract anymore even after trying to bend it straight again. I have kept using it because I don't have a better net, but I have to hold the sides of it and even then, it will now no longer fold all the way up. So a nice, compact net that was retractable is now neither of those things.

Does the job for the moneyThis net has come in handy many times on the seawalls and docks of the Florida keys landing small to medium size tarpon with out beating them to death and has held up well.

Not for river fishing...I looked at this net a number of times and finally bought it for my river drift boat and steelhead fishing. I give it a 2 star rating because I thought that it would be perfect for river steelhead fishing as it was compact and flipped open no problem in the store. The extending handle was a great feature, but when my buddy had a steelhead ready to land I extended the handle and dipped the net... to my surprise the aluminum frame of the net immediately bent to 90 degrees the second it hit the river water. I am not sure which of the three of us were more shocked (me, my buddy or the fish). I never took the net out of the water and pushed again the river bottom and kind of straightened it out and tried again to land the fish. This time being aware that it might bend and it did. It bent to a 45 degree angle this time and off went the fish again. On the third gift from god attempt with the handle collapsed I netted the fish....If the metal structure was stronger and the webbing holes larger I am confident that it would be a great product for the river, but it buckled in 900 cfs waters which was not good.
Clearly it is not designed for river and steelhead fishing. It might work for lake blue gill and bass fishing...forget about it for Northern Pike and Musky.....Salmon out of the question.
If you have one that will fold and work in the river please let me know and I will buy it and try it out.

Great kayak netI bought this net for use in my fishing kayak because it is so easy to store and it also has a rubberized net that is easy on fish and doesn't catch hooks as badly. I've used it 3 years for walleye and bass mainly but have landed strippers with it too. It does deploy easily using just one hand so you can leave it folded until needed. I did put a bend in the handle by lifting a heavy fish horizontally but I was able to straighten it. It does not float so I added a bit of small diameter pool noodle to the handle. I'm very satisfied and will buy another if this one wears out.

Poor Quality Landing NetPaid a lot of money for this net yet to find out it is of poor quality. the rubber tube in the front is too flexible and makes it too difficult to land a fish. Very sorry I paid as much as I did and be disapointed.

Very Unhappy - Broke on the first fish we landedMade of cheap Chinese pot metal. This net broke right where the handle meets the net assembly mechanism when I caught a 33 inch Northern and my brother tried to land it with the net. We were able to land the fish fortunately as my brother had to grab both sides of the net, so at least the net was sturdy enough for the fish.

Not for Salt WaterThis looked like a great product but it is not suitable for use in salt water. It is made with dissimilar metals that disintegrate badly in spite of religious care in rinsing with fresh water after use. Mine is useless after one season as the parts are frozen.

Already unhappy with product just getting it readyHad great difficulty removing the paper label and pricing sku info on the handle, but knew what it would be like after just a bit of use. A good set of fingernails, and patience was not enough. Nor was hot water, and Brillo. Some goof off and 800 grit wet sandpaper did the job in just about five minutes, after the failed attempts. I find it annoying having to remove pricing and product info not designed to be part of product from the product that have been put on with adhesive designed not to be removed.
Can I get a replacement net to install on this handle?

What do length do the nets fold to?

Is there a max weight or size fish for this net?
Asked by: brad1972
Well, if you get a big fish are you gonna say "Oh, that exceeds the weight capacity of my net?" No, your gonna try to land it. That said big fish can not be lifted horizontally or the handle will bend. Net the fish then lift the handle to vertical, then lift allowing the net to bear the weight of the fish. I've lifted many 15 to 20 pound carp this way with out incident. Good luck fishing.
