Don’t BuyVery unstable. Doesn’t track well. It does have lots of room for gear and is easy to maneuver with 1 guy.

Tracking is terriblei bought this for my wife because she wanted something a little more stable than my tarpon 120. While it is stable for both of us the tracking is horrible. I thought my wife was having problems because of inexperience but when I tried it I couldn’t keep it going straight unless I headed into the wind or got into a sheltered area of the lake where we were protected from the wind.

poor quality seatthe Kayak is pretty sturdy but the seat is of poor quality. It rusted out and broke just at a year. Called the manufacture and they said they don't cover corrosion. Why make a seat that gets wet and use poor quality material, cause then you have to buy another seat

GREAT First Fishing KayakI'm so glad I didn't let the poor reviews keep me from getting this boat. If you have stability issues you honestly need to strengthen your core because I'm 6'2 180lbs (tall and thin) and I feel absolutely solid in this thing unless I'm not being smart. In still water you can stand, although it really isn't meant for that. Comfortable seat that sits nice and high, makes for easy casting and working jerk baits. The scuppers do their job. I bought the two wheel cart, highly recommended instead of dragging it through the woods or gravel. I have to toss it up onto a small SUV and it isn't the lightest boat in the world but it's absolutely manageable even if you aren't strong or tall. I will be using this as long as water isn't frozen. You'll get some water in the boat one way or another but you sit above it so with waterproof and warm clothes you'll be fine, and in the warm months who cares if you get wet anyway? Plenty of space in front and back which my sit-inside yak buddies get very jealous of. The little dry storage thing, cup holder, rod holders, carrying handles, multiple places to attach stuff, rails for attachments like paddle holder & fish finder... if you're looking for a first fishing kayak purchase or just recreation kayak you'll be happy with this.

Very disappointedI bought this kayak after the salesman told me that the hull had been improved for better stability. Earlier reviews had been negative in regards to stability. Much to my disappointment, it has not been improved. Unless you are out for a workout, this isn’t not for you. I have two other kayaks, so this one doesn’t get used.

Worst purchaseBought about year ago. All six rivets that hold seat bracket leak. Right under left seat bracket on the deck has 6 inch crack that takes on water. Called bass pro nothing they can do with no sales receit. Talk to ascend nothing they can do also. Had this kayak for a little over a year. Who would think to save a receit after that long. I learnt a lesson on this to file a receit. 549.00 dollars wasted. I will never buy anything from bass pro again. Ascend products are junk in my book

First KayakMy wife got me this kayak which is the first one that I have owned. I tested the kayak on a lake where there was some high winds and good boat traffic without any of the fishing equipment onboard just in case it tipped over. I am 50 years old and 5'11 at about 165 and do not surf (for those of us who are balance deprived). The kayak worked great. I was able to stand up with some side to side movement. Don't be deceived...you can not walk around but you can stand. The kayak stayed relatively dry with the plugs and did drain appropriately if I got any water onboard. I purposely leaned to both sides and it took some intention to finally get the boat to take on water and then flip (again I did this on purpose). I was able to easily flip it back over and then reboard the kayak very easily. The dry storage worked and no water was found in it after it was flipped.
I am eager to use this for some trout streams which is really what I want to use it for though the boat I believe is more recommended for the flat water. So I will be pushing it beyond what it's primary purpose is. I will logon back on once I am able to hit some moving rivers and white water to see what kind of stability it has.
So I would highly recommend this boat and plan on adding on some attachments to the rails to make it even more useful.
The Kayak Size is 10'x31"x12" . So the Kayak will be 31" wide.

Can the ascend kayak be outfitted with a trolling motor?
Asked by: Donnie 2012
Thank you for choosing Bass Pro Shops.
A trolling motor can be added but we do not make a specific trolling motor bracket for these kayaks. You will want to check local laws and regulations regarding electric motors on kayaks also. Some states may require you to register your kayak when adding a motor.
