One trip and I am impressed so farBought this for vertical jigging. It cranked up 34 grouper from 80 feet deep. Smooth drag and retrieve under stress. Casted decent, but required a lot of thumb to avoid backlash. All in all, great reel for the price, great balance if you are like me and like narrow reels. I also like the extra stop before free spool. I have had to many lever drags spooling line out behind the boat because of a hard landing kicking them into free spool. Will update after a few more trips.

great reelSo far this reel has been great, very smooth, good clicker, and is a workhorse. I've only used it a couple of time and caught a big snook and a 70 pound goliath, still waiting to take it offshore for some amberjacks and trolling for kings

Nice reelReceived this reel, 10 series, and first impression was "it's small". Maybe a little bigger than a 400 series round baitcaster. It's built very solid with nice finish and really smooth handle and spool rotation. I spooled mine up with #20 mono and put on a 8' Tescata jigging rod. Adjusted the drag to @ #15 on my digital scale. Drag was smooth and fluid feeling. The reel seems smoother with the line installed and although it's a"jigging" reel, it casted a 2 ounce jig head with no body over 50 yards. Hopefully heading to Crystal River this weekend and put it to the "reel" test.

ProblemBought this last year and after one season of moderate, normal use it won't free spool this year on my first trip. I take care of my reels and this one looks good, but wont let out the line for a deep drop. Now i have to figure out if I am under warranty and ship it back and lose the spring season. Not happy. Thought it was something good.

Excellent reelI own a 14 and has not let me down ever in 2 years. I live in Florida and fish offshore 3-4 times a month and almost always get some jigging in. I'm not a fan of the majority of oceanmaster products but I would put this reel up against any other jigging reel. I'm not sure of the name but the oceanmaster blue rods are a great deal too.

Holding up wellPicked this reel up on 2 visits and didn't buy it.
I'm very tough on reels. Killing many in a season or two. I figured I'd get half a season out of this and it's why I passed on it first time.
I finally broke down and bought one online ( the 12)
I'm coming to the end of a very busy season and this little reel has been beat hard. Catching dozens, maybe hundreds of big fish. Surprised it's humming along like new! Great drag, smooth as glass, killer little reel!
As my older daiwas expire I'm thinking of replacing them with these.
Surprisingly nice little reel.
You won't be disappointed.

What is the best reel for checking for flounder
Asked by: Rcbups
For flounder fishing a good starting point is a light or medium reel capable of 10-to-12 pound test braid of fluorocarbon line, tied to a 20- pound fluorocarbon leader.
