Offshore Angler High Tide Spinning Reel
Get the touch and control you need for fishing live bait with our Offshore Angler® High Tide Spinning Reel. Flip a switch and the rear drag engages, allowing you to free-spool or release line under light tension with the bail closed; flip the switch again, and you're back to straight front drag for setting the hook and fighting the fish. Both the front and rear drag systems feature infinite adjustment; rear max drag is 11 lbs., front max drag is 39 lbs. The Offshore Angler High Tide Reel is designed to tackle big fish in both fresh- and saltwater, with its super-strong, waterproof graphite frame and rotor, double-anodized machined aluminum spool, stainless steel bail wire, and hard-plated oversized line roller. Inside, a rugged zinc alloy drive gear, brass pinion gear, and stainless steel main shaft are driven by powerful worm gear oscillation and supported by a smooth-running 6-bearing system featuring double-shielded stainless steel ball bearings plus instant anti-reverse. Stainless steel/PTFE drag stacks offer the precision and power needed to subdue any quarry; diecast aluminum handle with oversized knob for leverage. Gear ratio: 4.9:1.

good reelI put a 4000 reel on a 7' medium heavy ugly stik and use it as a catfishing set up. Works great for letting cats run with the bait a bit before setting the hook. Have caught dozens and a few over 20lbs. Love this set up especially for when you have people that dont have experience with casting reels with you.

Gears StrippedOrdered the 6000 lined it with 60 lbs braid and took it off shore. Caught 3 or 4 fish and the gears stripped to the point that i had to put the rod up for the day and now need a new reel. For hard pulling fish I would recommend going with a higher end reel.

Double DragI used this for surf fishing and pier. The rear drag works great when the fish grab the bait and run the rod stays put and the wind don't blow the line out .

How do can I tell the size of this reel? Meaning, I want to use this reel on the beach and for larger fish
Asked by: Steve vitale
Thank you for your inquiry. This spinning reel comes in three different sizes by model number: HTD4000, HTD6000 and HTD8000. The HTD8000 has a line capacity of 200 yds. of 20# mono, or 255 yds. of 65# braid. If you're going to be fishing from the surf for larger fish, this one might be the one you need then.

Is this a good reel to catch striped bass on? Also how muck 20lb braid can it hold?
Asked by: Griffin112
Matched with the appropriate rod, this reel would be good for striped bass. It would accommodate approximately 300 yards of 20# braided line. Thank you for asking.
