The Nikon® BLACK FX1000 Rifle Scope offers a first-focal-plane reticle for dialing in at long range throughout the entire 4x power range. High speed tactical turrets are clearly marked, and the elevation turret features the BLACK Return-to-Zero integral zero-stop. Side parallax focus and a quick-focus eyepiece get target, reticle, and parallax focused sharply at any range. Fully multi-coated glass maximizes light transmission for bright images with sharp contrast. The FX1000 rifle scope is constructed with a 1-piece, 30mm aluminum tube. The scope is O-ring sealed and nitrogen gas purged for waterproof/fog-proof integrity. The Nikon BLACK FX1000 Rifle Scope comes with either the FX-MOA or FX-MRAD reticle, each designed to optimize sight picture and provide the necessary tools for range estimations and compensation for bullet drop and wind drift. Satisfied end userExcellent scope with many features and clear glass at reasonable price. All other scopes with these features cost north of $1K. I shot 270, decorated with this scope, at targets near and far (600yds) without any issue. One minor issue I had with the brand new scope was that, after loosening the 3 screws, zero stop dial/locking collar wouldn’t rotate downwards without moving the zero. I held zero with one hand and turn the zero stop downwards with other. Once it was freed, zero stop dial moved up or down freely. I guess top one or two threads on the zero stop may have been marred by the three screws and once dial was loosed up it worked fine.

Everything you want for great priceAmazing scope, it's nearly impossible to find a scope with such clear glass and 30 year warranty that offers 1st focal plane in MRAD with a zero stop for under 1000 dollars. I am very glad I purchased this it tracks wonderfully. Vortex has some competition !!!

Great ScopeI purchased this scope to do some long range shooting. I had cabelas mount it on a savage 10T SR chambered in 6.5 with vortex rings. After a quick sight in at 25 then 100 yards I went out to the range. I had the privilege of getting access to a 1000 yard range. targets were set up on 50 yard intervals. I was using the Nikon Spot On app for ballistic calculations. I hit every steel silhouette out to 950 yards. This is a great scope and I am happy I purchased it.
What's the difference between this scope and the "X1000" sold by Cabela's, which (I read) does not have zero stop?

There are two differences that are significant with these scopes. One difference is that the Nikon Black FX1000 has a Return-to-Zero integral zero-stop in the elevation turret; the Nikon Black X1000 does not have this feature. Another difference is that the Nikon Black FX1000 is a first focal plane scope while the Nikon Black X1000 is a second plane scope. Both scopes are designed with high grade optics for quick target acquisition.

What size Butler Creek flip-up scope covers does this scope use?

The outside diameter size you will need for flip-up caps for the objective is 2.4 (inches) or 60.3 (mm). For the eyepiece you will need a flip-up cap of a 1.7 (inches) or 44 (mm) outside diameter size.

what's the difference between MOA and MRAD on the Nikon fx1000 scope.

The difference is in the range calculations for distance that they use. The Nikon BLACK FX1000 Rifle Scope MOA FX scope adjusts 1/4inch MOA at 100yards and the Nikon BLACK FX1000 Rifle Scope MRAD scope adjusts .1Mrad clicks at 100yards.
