DO NOT BUYThis reel is terrible, I go fishing pretty much every day. This reel broke in about 20 days, do not buy. It’s made cheaply. 70 dollars down the drain, kinda figured that a BASS PRO reel would not be cheaply made and would last at least 1 year, but didn’t even last a month. The handle fell of and the bolt fell into the water, the brakes broke so you get backlash every throw. DO NOT BUY!

Poor qualityThis was the third formula reel I've bought. I was extremely happy with the first two so when one of them started wearing out I didn't hesitate to buy another despite some of the more recent negative reviews. There were loose screws under the side cover for the brake adjustment which rubbed on the magnets causing a loud noise and slight grooving of the magnet faces, tightened them up, everything is fine. First full day using it the crank handle loosened up due to nut stripping out, apparently due to being over tightened during assembly. Maybe I just got lucky with my first two but after reading other reviews I know I'm not alone when it comes to experiencing quality issues with these reels. There are plenty of other options in this same price range.

Lightweight, cast great! This is my second time purchasing this reel. My first time was to try to out and I loved it. This time I purchased it with a high speed ratio. Keep the regular maintenance up and these reels last. It's lightweight for all day fishing and cast great! This reel has a good smooth drag, good retrieve, sits low on the rod, has centrifugal and outside brakes! Overall a very good reel!

Perfect StarterAs someone who had never really used a baitcaster reel before, I found this to be a great starter. Once I understood the mechanics of casting with this type of reel (a little trial and error... ok a lot) .. This works great. Reasonably versatile settings for amateurs to not so amateurs.

Solid reel for the moneyI have had it out twice.performed well. Like how smooth it is.
When lining this reel does the line go over or under the pin after it goes through the level wind hole.
Asked by: Phalps57
Thank you for choosing Bass Pro Shops. Either will work. The line needs to be pulled all the way around the spool and a knot tied to close the loop and secure the line to the spool. When the handle is turned it will lay the line down in the proper direction.

Is this reel rated for saltwater use?
Asked by: MarcusTX
Thank you for choosing Bass Pro Shops. This is not a saltwater reel. If you use it in saltwater, you will want to rinse it thoroughly with freshwater after use.

What does the tension knob behind the crank handle do? And when should I do it?
Asked by: Charttn
The knob behind the handle is the tension knob and ajust the drop rate and the tighter it is the more weight it will take fore line to be pulled

If I cast with my right hand and reel with my left, which, is that considered right or left retreive
Asked by: Jim41
Thank you for choosing Bass Pro Shops. The retrieve is the hand that you crank the reel with.

what rod to pair this with
Asked by: Ivy D
Thank you for your question!
Rod choice is largely a matter of personal preference, combined with your application for this particular reel. However, we do offer pre-made combos using this reel, paired with the Pro Qualifier series rod, as well as rods from other well-known product lines like Abu Garcia, Quantum, Lew's, and Daiwa. You may want to look at the pre-existing combos to get an idea of which rods pair with the variant of the reel you're most interested in, but this reel will be compatible with any casting rod.
I hope this information helps!
