Hearing the story behind the creation of the Leatherman tool is one thing, but hearing the story from Tim Leatherman himself while touring the Portland, OR based headquarters is another experience all together. Leatherman’s link to Cabela’s goes back to the companies inception, so we are excited to once again to offer this inside look into this iconic brand to our best customers. Visit Portland, OR where Leatherman began in 1983 and continues to manufacture every tool today. There you’ll get exclusive access to Leatherman’s manufacturing facilities on a tour led by Tim Leatherman himself. After the tour, you’ll get to hand assemble your own tool that will then be completely customized with your own design. From there, travel through the scenic splendor of the Columbia River Gorge to Hood River, OR for a brewery tour and happy hour in one of Oregon’s top brewing hubs. After an evening in Hood River get ready for a day of adventure on Saturday as you set off on an overland expedition through Mt. Hood National Forest. The trail will end at a fully outfitted glamp-site where a back country chef will provide lunch and dinner while you take in the beauty of the Cascade Range. Sunday morning start the day with a hearty breakfast and then head back to Portland for your flights to conclude your long weekend with Leatherman. This is a trip neither the outdoorsman nor handy-man will want to miss.
