Springfield Armory ~ Model 1898 ~ .30-40 Krag

This Krag Model 1898 made by Springfield Armory dates to 1902 and retains its original military configuration. The Krag Model 1898 Rifle was the first smokeless powder repeating firearm adopted by the United States and was produced from 1892 - 1904 in various models and configurations. The Krags first saw service with U.S. Troops during the Spanish-American War and later saw continued in service through the Boxer Rebellion and the Philippine Insurrection over its brief life span. The Model 1898 is chambered in 30-40 Krag and exhibits the buttery smooth cycling action of the bolt that has become the hallmark of the Krag rifle platform. This specimen retains its original finish with a pleasing patina on its metal surfaces. All mechanical features of this gun appear to good working order to include the "flip up" front sight is fully functional.
