Colt ~ 1911 Indy 500 ~ .45 Auto

For your consideration, a Colt 1911 chambered in .45 Auto. This piece is part of a limited edition commemorating the 2011 centennial of the Indianapolis 500 and Colt 1911 both. As such, the right slide is ornamented with silver inlaid banners and a checkered flag while the left slide is adorned with Colt's rampant Pony emblem and a juxtaposition of the Marmon "Wasp" in which Ray Harroun won the inaugural Indy 500 race with Colt's 2011 sponsored Indy car. The top of the slide bears a striking engraving of the Borg-Warner Trophy likewise inlaid with silver. Scrollwork and imagery of the original "brickyard" configuration of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway flank the inlaid aspects of the slide's side faces. Of a series of 500, this is number 4.
