Simson (Suhl) ~ Thuringen ~ 12 Gauge

Simson Suhl is a Boxlock, hammerless, top-break, side by side with a single trigger, cocking indicators with ejectors. Markings: the top of the matted concave rib is marked "Simon, suhl (Thuringen)", the top of each barrel is marked "spezial-gewehrlaufstahl".The bottom of each barrel and each barrel flat has German proof marks and "266" date code. The left of the barrel lug is marked "250787". The top of the forend iron is marked "250787". Each lug of the water table is marked with simson's three-triangle mark, the left is marked "250787" and the right has a German proof marks. The coin finished receiver has decorative game scene engravings. The barrel length is 28" with fixed chokes "Full, IC". The sights are a brass bead mounted to the front of the rib. The top of the rib is concave and finely checkered to reduce glare. Stock configuration & condition: the stocks are two piece checkered walnut with splinter forend, capped pistol grip, straight comb, cheekpiece, checkered black hard rubber simson buttplate and a sling swivel in the belly (the other is mounted to the bottom rib forward of the forend). The buttstock/fore end has scattered dings, nicks, scuffs and scratches, no cracks. The checkering is well-defined. The drop comb is approximately 1 5/8", drop at heel 2 5/8". The cast is about neutral.
