Description
This Springfield Armory U.S. Model 1868 is a right hand single shot trapdoor breechblock design (dated 1870) rifle in .50-70 Gov't. Cal. It has a 32.5 inch barrel. A blade front sight and a folding middle sight (adjustment piece is missing) that almost meets the receiver. The butt stock is a smooth grip walnut straight grip. The forearm is a smooth grip walnut with two barrel bands and a steel cap. It has sling swivels. The right side plate has U.S. Springfield, an Eagle and 1864 stamped on it. Serial Number 34286 is on the barrel and reciever.
