The Rapala® DT® Series will dive faster and stay in the strike zone longer than any other crankbait. Only the DT Series lures are made from the top seven percent of select balsa wood. Perfectly consistent wood, combined with carefully placed internal weights, tapered fuselage and a thin tail to create the ultimate crankbait action. An ultra-thin polycarbonate lip digs the bait down quickly to the desired depth and creates a side-to-side, sound-emitting action that is only achieved by rattlin' balsa wood lures. Designed to fly like an arrow, the DT can easily be cast 150 feet. The further the cast, the longer the bait is in the strike zone. It's the most effective way to cover the water and catch more fish.

tie on a rapala
i've been really happy with these lures. nice design, colour schemes, and they catch fish! work 'em off points or the edges of deep water grasses and hold on! definitely a big fish lure. i had to start bringing a net on my trips as a giant pike just flat out ate my crankbait. couldn't do anything but watch him thrash until he broke the line. too many teeth!. anyway, i modify mine by using a speed clip to tie onto, and putting smaller trebles on (#6) to avoid snagging it. better wobble action and easy to switch out baits. i like the helsinki shad, but i'm slowly filling my box with just about every colour they make! also like the fact that they are balsa wood, which makes the finish even more life-like.

Go buy one now!!
I have used a lot of lures in my 30+ years of fishing, but this one takes the cake. We were fishing on a lake where no one(and I mean no one) was catching any fish. Then I put this baby on. Within 5 minutes of trolling BAM!! Got my first Brown(pictured) of the day! Then to follow that up with two nice Rainbows, one Pike, and three Kokanee Salmon! This is a must have. It seems that all species are attracted to it.

I bought the DT10 in the Heilinski Shad color. I caught tons of good sized bass and a ton of small northerns. I used 10 lb Fluorocarbon and I could get the bait down to about 12 ft on a super long cast with the rod tip lowered to the water. Unlike other crankbaits I have, the color pattern doesn't have a scratch and as long as a northern doesn't take my lure, it's good to catch another 100 fish on!

The DT series are all great lures, diving at least to the depth of their designation. the DT10 and DT16 have accounted for numerous fish so far this year, including some great walleye! I normally use Berkley's 12 o4 14 lb. Vanish fluorocarbon line and a BPS 6:1 reel and can crank these baits for 2 straight hours with no trouble.

I would recommend using braided line with a fluorocarbon leader. If you use mono you have to deal with the line absorbing water and robbing you of depth. If you do want to use mono line be sure to use something on the lighter side, maybe even down to 4lb test.
