The Depth-Hunter Braided line features four colors, blue, yellow, green and orange, that change every 25' and repeat every 100' for optimized depth and distance control. Depth-Hunter Multi-Colored Braided Fishing Line also has a black hash mark every 5' to give anglers another indicator to use when gauging lure depth and placement. big surprise well i have nothing against the product, just beware its not a bargain like i thought. all power pro line is spooled in yards, so i thought this was a great deal for 1000 yds of line for $47. the header for the choices says yardage. when i recieved the line i was very surprised it was 1000 feet not yards. it is just barely enough line for 1 reel not 3 like i thought. guess i should have been more careful when i chose this product. i can get the reel spooled at most tackle shops in my area for less than that and not have to do anything. i think they need to put a note in the product page drawing our attention to the fact that its feet not yards. Intelligient product This fishing line is wonderful. Need to fish right at 125' deep? Spool off 5 colors and in seconds and you are there! Each color is 25' in length. The line is also marked in 5' increments as well to hone in on depth even more. Works perfect for jigging in deep water offshore for AJ's or grouper. April 1, 2013
Excellent braid This braid is excellent for both jigging or drop line fishing where depth control is essential to catching fish. Color changes are easy to see and the line is strong. As with any braid the downfall is the cost if you get hung up and loose a bunch. If not the longevity of the line offsets the cost of traditional mono. August 10, 2012
Trolling Line I troll a lot this time of year. I own three line counter reels so I can replicate or duplicate (trolling two rods at a time) a presentation. If I had Depth Hunter available, I could have saved myself the cost of line counter reels. Also, the thin diameter means I can leave the wire line at home. Lake of the Ozarks September 22, 2012

Works well on spinning reels. You can cast or fish straight down for jigging. The main benefit of the colored metered line is to be precise about the depth you are fishing in seconds. I.E. drop your bait and spool off 5 different colors at 25' feet each to fish at a depth of exactly 125' when that's where the graph shows the fish are suspended. It is also marked in 5' increments to be even more precise.

I have used it for spin fishing and caught many crappie, sand bass, walleyes, and a number of hybrids up to 18.5 pounds. The only problem is that large walleyes often cut the line. It basicly performs the same as most braided lines. The advantage is knowing exactly how much line you have let out.

Yes you can use it on a spinning reel, as long as you have mono backing or a spinning reel with a rubber gasket on the spool for braid, but that goes for any braided line not just this one.
