Saltwater lure design has taken a quantum leap forward with the introduction of Offshore Angler's™ Lazer Eye™ Saltwater Series Hardbaits. The first element that will greet your eye is the Magnum Rattle Shad's® state-of-the-art lurecraft. Built around a familiar and effective body shape, the Magnum Rattle Shad's highly detailed flashy finish combines with its lifelike prismatic eyes to trigger strikes from even the most finicky saltwater predators. The second element you'll notice is how our Magnum Rattle Shads rattle louder, wiggler harder and track truer than other similar lures. Pre-tuned for trolling or casting and complete with ultra-sharp corrosion-resistant saltwater hooks.

Choose your Battles Since I've had great success freshwater fishing with lipless crankbaits, I thought I'd try one for saltwater. I've used this lure for several nights now, but no luck. The lure casts extremely well, and I believe is 1 5/8 oz. The lure has an oval ring on top, and moves nicely through the water, emmitting a rattling sound that I know freshwater bass can't stand. After the first night, both of the eyes fell off, but I do fish primarily from a rocky shore. The paint is also badly scratched . While this lure may work for some, I found the quality to be lacking and probably will keep this one in the bottom of my tackle box, if I bring it along at all. June 20, 2009
Magnum Shad My partner and I use this bait (in different colors) for musky fishing in the rivers here in WV. Except for the Red head/silver body version, we paint gills with red finger nail polish onto the lures. It seems to add that little bit that the musky need sometimes to attack this bait. Saltwater lures are less expensive than regular musky baits and seem very effective for our use. In seven years we've caught over 200 musky. A fair percentage were from this bait. May 9, 2012
needs weighting changes Nice lure does cast well flips to much shortens distance needs to be reweighted similar to the Mr. Bunker then it should be a hot lure.Nice finish and swims nice just doesn't cast to well. December 4, 2007
Bigger than I expected! I just received these lures and they are bit bigger than I thought! But, none the less they work very well, cast great in the wind, swim well out of the box, and the one that looks like a mackerel, actually looks like a baby mackerel due to the size and the color is bang on! Haven't caught anything yet, but it's still a bit early for lures that look like mackerel, no doubt I will catch some stripers on this lure for sure! July 6, 2013

For those who have used these for musky, what colors have you had the most luck with? If you can give me any more advice, such as when/where they work best, it would be greatly appreciated, as I am new to musky fishing.

Staff Answer
A:
The classic rules are a good place to start: in clear water -natural colors; in darker waters – fluorescent/bright colours. Example, Perch-color and Fire-Tiger are good during the day and red seems to be good in the evening.

They prefer clear waters where they lurk along weed edges, rock outcrops, or other structures to rest. A fish forms two distinct home ranges in summer: a shallow range and a deeper one. The shallow range is generally much smaller than the deeper range due to shallow water heating up. A muskie continually patrols the ranges in search of available food in the appropriate conditions of water temperature.
