''The Minn Kota® Fortrex® is absolutely the toughest, smoothest, and quietest trolling motor on the market. It's practically bulletproof.'' Alton Jones 2008 Bassmaster Classic® Winner
Minn Kota® Fortrex® Bow-Mount Trolling Motors feature an innovative mono-arm design, Counter-Tension Stabilizer (CTS), Lift Assist, indestructible composite shaft, hand or foot control models, and Digital Maximizer™. Innovative Mono-Arm Design
Features an extruded structural beam that operates with no metal-to-metal contact and 75% less torsion. A single hinge point and rear pivot bearing with 20% more surface area deliver less wear, longer life, and quieter operation than traditional scissor mounts. Counter-Tension Stabilizer (CTS)
A Minn Kota exclusive! Integrated spring arm applies force in both the stowed and deployed positions, eliminating motor play and reducing noise. Reduces steering torque at higher speeds or in heavy chop. Lift-Assist
Patented design cuts the weight of stow and deploy in half. Features a 300 series stainless steel, nitrogen gas-charged spring. Indestructible Composite Shaft
Pound for pound, stronger than steel. Flexes on impact. Will not break, kink, or corrode. Guaranteed for life.
Streamlined Foot Pedal (most models)
The redesigned foot pedal creates more space for your foot, while keeping the momentary button within easy access. In addition, the speed control has been re-designed to provide for easier adjustment. Digital Maximizer™
Up to five times longer run time on a single charge. Controls the draw of power at variable speeds to conserve battery power and extend run time. Removable Bowguard 360º™
Allows the motor and bowguard to be lifted off the mount simply by removing a single cap screw. This feature also includes a dual bearing system that eliminates noise and allows for improved breakaways from any angle.
Minn Kota® Fortrex® Bow-Mount Trolling Motors
So far so good. The mounting process went fairly smooth. The existing Minn Kota 80 lb thrust trolling motors base was about 1/2 inch wider but still managed to use three of the four existing mounting holes in my boat. I hade to drill one new hole!!!! I've used in once so far and like lift assist. The noise is about the same as the old Minn Kota. Only time will tell how good this new unit will be!!

Minn Kota Fortex 101
I have been a Minn Kota Trolling Motor user and fan for many years. Recently my 5 year old Maxxum 101 died a sad death. With vacation a short time away I needed a trolling motor fast and found out the Fortex 101 (36 volt) was kind of hard to find. I felt lucky to find one in stock at BPS and ordered it right away and paid extra for 2 day shipping to give me enough time to mount it. I HATE the thing as it is noisy, no slow start (if you arent careful it will knock you in the lake), and is very loud on highest setting yet it is light and feels like a tinker toy. In addition the holes from the Maxxum did not match the holes for the Fortex so the marina had to drill more holes in my boat. The first time I used it I called for assistance and It took a long time on hold to get anyone at the Minn Kota customer service (they actually close at 5:30 eastern time) but when i did I was told to get it to an authorized center, 75 miles away. There I was told that the motor is working normally and that is how it is supposed to behave. Well once I recover from the over 1500 bucks I shelled out for this junk heap special (including sales tax and shipping) I am getting a motor guide.

Watch out for the tabs
I bought this motor to replace my Terrova I-Pilot. It worked like a dream until suddenly I could not retrieve it from the trolling position. I noticed it was hung on the inside guides that hold it between the bottom mounted bracket when deploying. There appeared to be some plastic material left on the sides marked R and L for left and right sides . There were only 1/2 tabs holding it on until it got to the front. There they were connected when it seemed they should be cut apart. Bass pro promptly took care of the problem. Pete, The manager at the Hanover store came out a personally took the old motor off and put the store floor model on my boat. You bass guys know what that means. Off with the front console, reaching up under the bow ,taking off the old lock nuts, and putting it all back together. Hooray for Pete!!!!! And hooray for bass pro. I was back on the water in less than two hours.Caution. If you can;t retrive this motor,Check the front tabs of the mounted bracket getting hung in the side of the top swing bracket

Motor installed easy - works great. Easy to use and has plenty of power for my 20 foot boat in heavy river current. Would recommend strongly.

I have a humminbird HD with Down Imaging GPS on the bow and I'm worried the built in transducer may not be as good as the Humminbird one. Also I may up grade to a Down and Side imaging sonar. Anyone run into this or have a problem? I will go another rout if I have to mount my Humminbird one to it.
The Universal Sonar 2 delivers exclusive fish finding features from uncluttered, interference-free sonar. With the shielded cable connectors, it should virtually eliminate the possibility of sonar interference. We have not heard of any other customers having problems when using the built in transducers. You might use the Down and Side imaging sonar for a better readout. Thanks
