White River Fly Shop Magnetic Net Release
I have found the magnetic net release to be a very good purchase. Other retailers offer a similar unit for over $35 !!
I have paired it up with a White River Indian Point trout net, also purchased from Bass Pro.
It clips right on to the loop on the back of my chest pack (near the base of my neck) and hang there (very well I might add) until needed.
Simply reach around your waste to grab the net, give it a quick pull that will release the magnetic catch, and scoop up that trout! The bungee type cord makes sure your net will never float away.
A quick reach behind and the strong magnet will snap it right back into place for the next "fish on" event!

Perfect Net Accessory
Picked up this Magnetic Net Release to make it easier to carry with me while fishing. The plastic clip, clips easily to the ring on the back of my Fishing vest, leaving it in a perfect height to retrieve when I need to land a fish. The magnet itself is strong and does not come off while walking around. If the net does happen to catch on a tree or bush, odds are it will come off. However, there is an elastic lanyard that it comes with and it is a great feature. If for some reason you need to let go of the net, it is always attached to my vest. A must have accessory if you wear a fishing vest and carry a net.

Better Than What I Was Using But Overpriced
This works better to manage my net while I'm walking and when fighting and landing a fish than my old system which was hooking my net to my wader belt with a clip then keeping it retained with a shock cord when netting and/or taking pix of fish. However, the magnets are not that strong. I hike thru a lot of dog hobble when I fish and while the magnets hold most of the time they do pull apart easier than I would like them to and I find myself dragging the net. It would be great if the magnets held all the time! Plus I found this same exact rig for 25% less elsewhere. If you don't mind paying on the high side for it and you fish in wide open places, this should work fine for you.

Needs 8lb magnet
This is the product I have been looking for. I've used it for two months now and it is perfect except for two things.
1. The magnet needs to be a little stronger. Sometimes my net will just fall off when I'm doing heavy hiking or take a heavy step. I don't like it when my nice net fall 5 feet onto rocks.
2. Both magnets swivel so when I'm trying to connect it (it's on my back so I'm doing this blind) the magnets will often 'find' each other but instead of connecting as shown in the product photo one magnet will connect to the side of the other (basically at 90 degrees). If i can find a way to rigidly mount one of the magnets to my net so that it doesn't swivel I think it'll work better.
