Rated 5 out of 5 by Best cat reel ever A 50# flat head cat doesn't have a chance with this reel connected to him with 6# Berkley Triline. October 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by very satisfied i bought this reel a while back and i absolutely love it. it feels good and works like a charm. you would never guess it only cost $20. i can't imagine you could find a better reel for such light tackle for that price. i hooked a pretty decent sized catfish just recently while i was fishing for crappie and the reel performed very well. the drag is nice and smooth and the whole thing just feels great. my only complaint is the extra spool that comes with it is plastic, but really for $20 you don't get much anywhere nowadays. i'm actually thinking of getting another for my brother in law. Rated 3 out of 5 by Great reel The anireverse is broken right now but the reel preformed really well when it was working May 13, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Crappie Maxx is awesome This reel is lightweight, easy to use and I would recommend that anyone looking for a reel for your crappie pole, try the Crappie Maxx spinning reel. I also have two Cat Maxx reels for catfishing and I love them all. And if the need arises, I will buy them again! May 9, 2013

I cannot tell from the product description if the only difference is spool capacity or if one reel is actually larger/heavier than the other.

To me, if the line size is different, the reel size is different. On this type reel it is a matter of choice.

A:
It is likely that the spools are the same except that the depth of each is different. The 4# test would have a shallower well than the 6#. I inquired to see if they sell spare spools, and they don't. Bummer, cuz I would get a spool for the other size line.
