Our Ascend kayaks are so popular, we can hardly keep them in stock! And now, the FS10, our feature-packed kayak designed for serious anglers, has been enhanced in multiple ways to make it an even better value. It starts with an advanced hull design that utilizes an extended keel with performance rocker and strakes to deliver the superior maneuverability, tracking, stability, and easy paddling when you want to get to that special spot quickly. The large open cockpit offers easy entry and exit at the shore with little restriction of movement while casting and retrieving considering the 31" width. The improved DLX removable seating system allows for all day comfort on the water or allows easy removal of the comfortable padded steel-frame seat for a quick rest ashore. The screw out deck plate with integrated weathertight storage keeps smaller items high and dry. Dual flush mount rod holders make transporting rod and reel combos easy, while the fully adjustable, light tackle rod tender holds your rod while fishing with 360º of horizontal adjustment and vertical rod tip adjustment. Two 4'' cleats provide an easy anchor for a minnow bucket or fish stringer. Dual bungee paddle keepers hold your paddle securely while fishing. Bungees over the built-in multipurpose sternwell and bow help lock down your fishing gear while moving from spot to spot. Deep molded dual cup holders and two large catch all trays in the cockpit make it easier to keep the gear you use often close at hand. The threaded and sealed drain plug allows you to quickly drain excess water. Molded-over rubber grip handles at the front and rear make carrying the FS10 easier. I didn't want to jump the gun and post a review after the first couple of trips so I figured I would wait until I fished with this a bit.
First I will say that this kayak is very stable and seems to cut through the water nicely! Once I gained confidence in my ability to turn around while keeping from tipping I was able to set up a crate to store my tackle. Trying to keep a small tackle box between my legs got annoying. The rod holders, dash board, and dry storage hatch all seem well thought out and are very functional. Now on to the seat. I really expected to have a sore back after fishing for a couple of hours but this is not the case. I fish at least once a week in this kayak and usually for 4-5 hrs at a time and don't even notice the seat. I am very happy with this kayak and love fishing from it. The only drawback with fishing from a kayak is that you have to alter some of your methods due to how low you sit. It's almost impossible to flip or work top water lures since you can't point your rod tip down. This is not an issue with this model of kayak but just kayak fishing in general.

Looked at allot of fishing kayak's and this being my first I wanted a quality product. This kayak comes well equipped for fishing so no need to add items such as rod holders & cleats. Had it out twice so far and very pleased with my decision. Money well spent.

I only gave it 4 stars but don't let that deter you from purchasing.
First off let me say this is my first kayak. I've used one of my buddies, which was also a sit inside and this one is much nicer. I originally wanted an A10 and just to rig it up for fishing myself, but I guess Bass Pro was losing too much money from other anglers doing that same thing and they changed the design on the lower models.
The FS10 is very stable. My buddy and I both bought one to fish Galveston Bay and other inshore areas. Never had any issues wanting to tip, handles powerboat and even barge traffic very well. The rod tender is not the best in the world, and will be something that you may upgrade eventually. I'm 6'3 @ 210 lbs and it has plenty of room for me, I could almost lay down in it.
I've found the seat to be very comfortable as is, though maybe not the best design. I did break the plastic ring that holds the seat back in an upright position. This was my 3rd time out on the yak, Ascend should have thought of opting for stainless steel rather than plastic for this piece. I will be replacing both with Stainless Steel pieces.
I've found the sternwell, to be a bit on the small side, but plenty big for a milkcrate or small cooler and drybag. One issue I've discovered is on windy days in the bay, if the waters get rough, the sternwell, can fill up with water, the rear of the yak rides pretty low in the water.
I like the yak, would probably buy again, however, if I was to do it over again, I would likely opt for the FS12T sit on top or similar.
