Abu Garcia Cardinal S Spinning Reel
Not a bad reel at all
I have had a few of these reels size 20. I love them and have caught many Salmon and Trout in the river with it. The reel is smooth and the drag is clean. The only downfall is the plastic outer parts it has that work fine but the finish wears off. Reel still works great but looks dull with the plastic parts finish worn away. Awsome priced reel I would deff. recommend to anybody wanting a lower price reel that will hold up. I matched mine up with a Shakespeare Micro Graphite 7' light action rod.

I used this reel for a total of 5 hours and it cracked. I don't even see how that is possible. Not only did it just crack, it snapped my line because the cheap plastic shreds ripped my line. So not only was I out 30 dollars for a cheaply made reel, I lost my crankbait as well. Awful. Would never buy again.

Purchased this spring at local Kmart. Also bought a spinning rod to go with and some line. While putting on line was unable to get the antirevers to work. First time taking apart a spinning real I found that the anti reverse spring was missing. Found a website to order the $.60 spring but cost $4.50 shipping! Made a spring from an ink pen spring and it works fine.

Don't Do It!
I purchased the S5-C to pair with a 5' ultra-light Shimano Voltaeus spinning rod. First, the reel seems much smaller than it should be, which belies the weight of the reel: More on parr with a micro-light reel. In addition, it seems cheaply made, with plastic handle seat and plastic handle nut. Every second rotation on retrieve, it gets noticably tighter and some friction is evident. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is the price, but, if I could do it over, I'd not buy this reel. Bottom line: Spend another $10.00 and get the Pflueger GX7 or Mitchell Avocet lV. Seriously! Don't buy this reel; it's more of a toy than an angler's tool.
