Details: 
No maintenance required for five years (unless fired). Is the five years from the date it was manufactured or five years from the date I purchase the vest?

The date should be listed on the vest or I know it is listed on the CO2 Rearming Kit.

You have to be surmerged in at least 4 inches of water before it will inflate. Rain and spray will not effect it.
