HIT is Hydrostatic Inflatable Technology. This describes how the vest automatically inflates. An Hit vest must be submerged at least 4 inches to inflate. Membrane technology vests can inflate if they get too damp (rain or damp storage). All have manual pull cords also.

HIT- Hydrostatic Inflator Technology offers reliable inflation in a low maintenance design that will only automatically inflate when submerged in 4 or more inches of water and not inadvertently due to rain, spray or humidity.
