Just below the knee on me (I'm 6'1).

Bottom line...these are the best boots made for cold weather. Bought mine in 2000 and they still look brand new. PLUS they're made in NY...

Can't anwser on the insulaton per se except that I wear mine with heavy socks to sit on stand for hours down to +30 degrees and am comfortable. Below that temperature, I move on to snow pacs. I am on my 3rd pair and love them!

It's not listed as a Thinsulate product in terms of grams of insulation, but I can tell you that I've owned mine for ten years, I only wear them to hunt, and they still look brand new. I have never, NEVER had cold feet in the woods while wearing these boots. Best boot made, and only boot I'll ever own.
