Yes, it probably could, but that's not what this rod is for. I would recommend buying a casting (baitcasting) reel for this rod.

Yes but I would buy the spinning rod if you want to use a spinning reel . If you want to use one rod for both types of reels then go 7' med/hvy spinning rod . I would like to say I suggest spinning rods for spinning reels and casting rods for casting reels but the above suggestion will work best if you just absolutely have to use both types of reel on one rod . A baitcasting reel could possibly fit on a spinning rod (&vise versa), but wont work anywhere near as good on one. The difference between spinning and casting rods are mainly the lengths & guides, and for max performance with your gear, use the correct reel for the correct rod. Hope this helps!A:
Yes, although maybe not comfortably. It would work better putting a baitcaster on a spinning rod, and some people actually prefer that, but a spinning reel on a baitcasting rod will be akward if the rod has a trigger.

Yes they will interchange but with disadvantages because of the switching over . First with putting a spinning reel on a baitcasting rod will make the trigger thats on the bottom now be on the top in the way . The eyes are smaller and will slow your cast down thus shorter casts. You need the larger eye for spinning reels to get more distance in your casts . Next if you put a baitcast reel on a spinning rod you will encounter the same problem as mentioned above in that the eyes on spinning rods are larger and set higher off the blank . So with a baitcasting reel sitting right on the blank it will generate a lot of friction at the first eye . Really I can not recommend this idea of switching reel types to different types of rods . If I had to though I would choose the rod I thought I will be using its intended way more than the use with the opposite type reel not intended for it . Again not a good idea overall . I have been looking at this rod and the striper version and this rod has the weight range I am looking for but it seems as if the striper rod is better suited for saltwater (I plan on using it for fresh and salt).Answers

Yes the ugly stick line of poles are virtually unbreakable they can bend in half

Yes it would work saltwater but as with all rods they must be rinsed after use. I still would get the stripper rods because they are better suited to saltwater as you have guessed on your own. My brothers stripper rods have thicker coatings than my catrods do. Not sure if thats by design because we never noticed this until reading your question and checking them out . If its an accident then at least you gave it a try on an educated hunch . If you need to know for sure I bet you can look up a phone # on the internet to find out. I have to tell you that I'm a little envious of your fishing for saltwater strippers . Around my neck of the woods they are freshwater strippers only ( the biggens go 25-35 # at best and thats pretty rare ) .Good luck with those strippers . Send us some pictures with a review . Later !

These rods are great for catfish in the medium to heavy range, probably up to about 30 or 40 pounds, so I'd say they could take on a carp pretty well. I've caught quite a few channel catfish on mine that weighed in at around 20 pounds and I've never had a problem.A:

Hi, if I were to use like 50 ilb braided line on my reel, would this pole be able to handle it? Or is the 30 ilb line capacity the limit? I ask because reels have an 'x ilb' limit but you can go much heavier w/ braided line, I was wondering if it worked the same with rods.Answers

If you are fishing in rivers or streams you need something with a stronger drag/bait running system like a Penn.Abu Garcias bait runner system never worked really well in the ohio river and its current isn't as extreme as other much larger rivers like the mississippi :)
If you are just making a pole to fish for channels and smaller fish from ponds and lakes an Abu Garcia 6000 is plenty of reel.Throw some 20 pound big game on it and with a proper drag setting you are set up to handle fish well over 40-50 pounds.The highest id go Abu Garcia wise is the 6500's.Any higher on such a smaller pole just isnt really needed but its up to you :)

A Garcia 7000 would be better, but those are expensive, like $150. I have the bass pro shops mega cast baitcast reel on mine and it works fine for only $30.Answers

No, but it does come in 8'. 9' rods are a little too big for using in boats, and if you don't have a medium-fast action tip you're running the risk of tear your live baits off during casting. :)
