it's a light action rod. There is an ultralight action ugly stik which is 4'6" I believe

make sure the line is under the bail of the reel and threaded through each eye of the rod.

first use your index finger and hold down the line,while you are holding it flick the ring to the other side, then thrush forward while you are doing that let go

You need to have the reel facing down, flip the bail or use the quick release button while holding the line with your index finger. Pull back and cast the line. Remember to release the line too at the moment your ready to cast. That's pretty much it, it's a bit hard to describe in words. lol

Make sure the reel is under the rod. Some beginners mistakenly fish spinning gear upside down with the reel above the rod. Also, check the line. If it is twisted or tangled, it will effect the cast.
