No. The weight is only about 2 or 3 ounces. The cord is maybe 50 feet. I use them for smallmouth bass fishing on Lake Erie. If the waves get to 2-4 feet, they get dragged away. I generally fish in 30 foot of water or less, but I suppose for your needs you could add extra line and a heavier weight if necessary. However, even in 2-4 foot swells, they get lost in the swells and you lose track of them. You'd be better off tying a small 5 pound anchor to a 100 + feet of clothesline and attaching it to a large orange Tide detergent bottle. Thats what I have done more recently.
