A 1 piece rod is ALWAYS the way to go unless you can't transport it , then get a 2 piece or what ever.

Personally, 1 piece is best. I have several 2 pieces, and they have served me well but it does not match up to have a 1 piece. When you are locked up with a nice 20" Red Snapper, and he is dogging down bent not to be caught. That is when you are going to realize how you should have gotten that 1 piece instead of a 2 piece.

Details:
I travel world wide, both fly and drive, and would like to get a nice 2 piece inshore casting rod to bring along with me on my trips to the beach and to use in my canoe. I could catch something as small as a small sea trout/speck to a large blue fish or small tuna? I'm primarily a fly fisherman retired in Italy, now, but grew-up in south Louisiana catching bass, red fish, and specks many moons ago. Rods have really changed since then.

A:
The Tidemaster comes in a few models that are multi piece. I have the 7.5 foot, 3 piece, medium heavy fast action for 10-20lb test line. It works great has backbone and mine has been used with 40lb test braid and has performed flawlessly while fighting everything from Big bass, Cats, Sturgeon, Redfish etc. I have flown all across the US with this rod and it is great. I know G.Loomis also sells a 3 peice rod but I don't know if it has the backbone for saltwater.
