A:
Fluorocarbon main lines tend to be more supple (less stiff), and easier to manage than leader material. They both have the FC properties of similar light refraction in water and density.

It is my understanding that leader material is stronger over a shorter leangth, where as line is stronger over the long leangth

A:
normally the leader will have less line and less size options.

A:
i dont think that there is any difference, i use braided line and in clear water the fish dont like to see it. by adding 6 feet of flourocarbon it seesm to increase the bites i get, double check the knots between braid and flourocarbon.

A:
Not much. The main difference is the line weights they come in. The leaders will generally be available in weights up to 80-100lbs, maybe more. The line usually is available in weights up to 20lb. I actually use line for leaders in situations where you don't need a super strong leader. I never fill a reel spool with fluorocarbon. It's a waste of money.

A:
the difference is the amount on the spool in terms of yards, i dont believe the leader is tapered

A:
I have always believed that the only difference between the regular spool and the leader spool of any type of line was the length of the line in the package.
Leader line is packaged in a shorter length so you don't have to purchase a full spool to make leaders.

A:
There is no difference between the two as far as what they are made of. One is all of the line on your reel and the other is a certain length (leader) of line attached to your main line usually by means of a barrel swivel.

While not true for all fluorocarbon Seagur InvizX is thinner the mono. The 10lb is the same size as 6lb Suffix Elite. That said, don't waste your money spooling up a complete spool of fluorocarbon. Use it for leader material.

Yes, although it will be slightly less in diameter. So, you may be able to go up to the next weight class if your rod can handle that test.

A:
I myself am using smaller test with this line. It just seems to be stronger than mono of the same test. However, this line in the same pound test is usually smaller in diameter. Example- Invizx 15lb. is the same diameter as Trilene 12lb. mono so if you were using Trilene mono just changing to Invizx in the same test would be like going down a line size.

if you go with the same # test you were previously using you will be able to get a few more yards on than you would with mono for example I have 8 pound mono and the diameter is .011 Then I have 10 pound fluoro and the diameter is .010 I hope this helps you answer your question

I'm using 10 lb on my baitcaster for texas rigging worms, tubes, & creature bait and it is working well. My spinning reels have 8 lb for waky and finese fishing and that is also working very well.

the only difference between mono and flourocarbon is what the line is made of but not alot of difference in diameter. the diameter of fishing line can vary from brand to brand.

I would use a little heavier pound test than if you were using mono. It is practically invisible, so a little bit of a larger diameter won't hurt. It has lower stretch so it is still sensitive and won't break as easily.
