This leader is a coffee or brownish color. It should blend in very well with the bottum and structure colors under water. It seems to work well for me. That does not mean much since these Minnesota prairie lakes are very muddy during warm weather.

To my knowlege the only other choice is a bright silver color if you are after toothy fish.

A:
That is the size that I use for Pike. It is a darker coffee colored wire and disappears very well.

As far as working with it. Get a "Du-Bro E-Z Twist Tool" or similar tool and you can make just about anything that you can imagine. With this size wire and with the much heavier 130# -180# test leader I make everything from spinner and buzz baits to rigs with multiple spinner blades and dressed treble hooks or other hooks for bait. The tool that I use is an earlier version of this twist tool. Instructions of how to use the tool should be with it.

With the 31# wire is is also easy to put together rigs with swivels and hooks by just twisting it with you bare fingers and maybe with a pair of pliers to hold it. This is illustrated on the package that it comes in. The Malin wire leader is intended to be bent and twisted and it is nice to work with.

it pretty easy to make knots with 31 pound test leader. unless the pike and musky you are going after are relatively small, i would definitely use a stronger leader. (35-40lbs)

A:
The heaviest leader is about the same as spinnerbait wire but it is not spring steel. When you bend it it stays bent untill you straighten it. I like the dark finish because it does not reflect the sun.

A:
It's more flexible/springy than the usual spinnerbait wire, but that's not really a problem. I have used the 0.024 size to make small (approx. 1/8oz) spinnerbaits for ultralight trout & panfish fishing; no problems. However, if you're making larger lures for bigger fish you need something stiffer than that so I would definitely use a one of the larger sizes. It would still be springier than the standard stuff, but would handle and last just as well if not better.
