The line doesnt really matter too much. you could go up to 100lbs braid if you wanted to, but it doesnt matter because there is only so much drag that can be exerted, probably about 20 lbs max. Your going to want to use either 20 lbs mono or like 65lbs braid. hope this helps

It should as long as the drag is set right. I wouldn't go over 17 to 20 lb line.
