Use Ultra Wire to create realistic, colorful segmented body effects and to add weight to your nymph patterns. Ultra Wire is excellent for brassies and other wire-bodied flies. The x-small wire is generally used for midge and emerger patterns. The small wire is used for wire body patterns, for segmenting bodies, and tying wire San Juan worms. The Brassie size is great for use in trout patterns.

A:
I have been using this wire in multitudes of colors for years. The wire is very flexible, but definitely not "string-like". As far as strength goes.. you would cut your fingers off long before you ever broke it (I actually recommend using a small pair of wire snips to cut it, because it will wear the snot out of your scissors).
