the one that comes with the frog and the hook is no as appealing nor does the hook work as good as the Bass Pro Frog Hook #4, Haven't lost a bass since I replaced.The skirts I have used are multi colored Terminator brand skirts that have green that matches the frog, bright yellow and orange that is very effective for me.

These frog do come with a very good skirt and you can not put any normal skirt on these. They are great lures and they catch big fish. My buddy caught a four pound largie on this lure. The only issue is it is not too durable.

i can usually get it to flip back over on retrieve almost instantly I dont think you can control it especially if throwing onto lilly pads or thick scum it lands how it lands but on the retrieve you can possibly straighten it out.A:

All the ones I've used did not do this that I can recall. Sometimes the body would spin around on the hooks and I'd have to fix that but it still gets big noisey strikes that scare the heck outa me.Details:
I went fishing today at a local pond. On about the third or second cast, bam a bass. I caught about four fish but missed about 10. I read one may add some hooks to this lure to avoid misses. Which are these hooks? Thanks.Answers

Extra hooks mean extra tangles and more frustration than missing, in my opinion.A:
i add no hooks and hook 95% of bites. If you yank to early thats when you lose the fish the back of the package says to wait 2 seconds i like to wait around 3 to 4 until it has pulled it under and i have never had a fish swallow itA:
To hook a fish it is all in the timing. If you count to 1 mississippi and set you won't miss too many

Get a Scum frog jr. It has a trailer hook included. See if it will hook onto the popper.

I've a few on my frogs too. The key to landing more bass is to wait just a second more than the strike. This is when the bass is taking the lure under water.Count one second after the strike, set the hook. You'll have better luck getting the hang of that than adding a hook to these. You'll get caught up more because these aren't designed to have trailer hooks. They designed to be as weedless as possible & the spilt dual hook design works fairly decently.

The fact is if you add any kind of hook to it you will compromise the weedlessness. but if you want, you can add a trailer hook for a spinnerbait. you CAN always change the hook out completely with a next size up double hook, or even replace the hook with a treble hook. but the one thing that I do personally that seems to work well without messing with the weedlessness is just slide the hook back and offset it to one side off of the body a little. any one of them should work for you. Another thing that works for me is to squirt a little bass gravy inside the body. It makes em want to hold on longer. In fact that might be it too, when using a topwater always hesitate on setting the hook. give em a chance to hold it in the sweet spot then nail em. FISH ON!!!Images for this Answer
