A:
It is designed to use a float reel. Think of a fly reel with no drag, that is what it uses. The reel seat is adjustable so that it can be paced anywhere along the handle. Unlike a spinning or casting rod that has a fixed place to put the reel.

A:
This rod appears to have sliding rings, as opposed to a reel seat. This allows you to change reel placement to get a perfect balance. If you are worried about the rings sliding off, you can always tape the reel in place. i have heard that this style of reel attachment is preferable amongst float fishermen.

Musky rod

Details:
What would you recommend for a starting rod for musky fishing? My more experienced fishing buddy says that I need a road with more guides as well as a bait casting reel. I would welcome your suggestions for a mid-price rod and reel available at your Vaughn store.

A:
I'm not sure which version of this rod you're looking at. But, the 11'-6" and the 13'-6" for 1/4 to 3/8 oz lures I'm currently seeing are way, way. way too light for muskellunge.

Any good sized muskellunge would snap these rods into really expensive tomato stakes.
