A:
The unit is watertight, so yes it can be used in saltwater. Run a second line with the weight, then attach to bottom of light to reduce or eliminate any stress on where cord runs into top of light.

A:
I own one of the original ones and I changed it from a submersible to a floater by attaching styrofoam. It is a very bright light and attracts the baitfish, which attract other fish. Yes I catch catfish using it. The fish tend to stratify with white bass at about 7-10 ft and crappie at 12-14 ft and then the cats and stripers at the bottom. That would be in approixmately 22-24 ft dept.

There are lights that you can use that are made for sword fishing. They are not super bright but they do not require 12 volt batteries. They run off of AA batteries and are about 5 inches long. They are called LED Deep-Drop lights. They cost about $7.00 each.

A:
I recently bought this light and it says that its about a 1 amp draw for the 21" light. I used it for 6 hours straight on an 8 amp hr 12 volt battery and it worked great.

For the money, this is great. Doubles as a deck light, as well.
