I use 14# flourocarbon. You can use lighter line to get deeper, or heavier line if fishing around cover.

Depends on the type of cover, I fish a lot of timber and usually rely on Power-Pro braid.

10# will get you a little deeper, but i prefer 12#, at least when dealing with 4# plus fish, fish the Berkley Vanish

Type-This depends on what you like to use. Kevin van dam uses fluorocarbon but Mike iaconelli uses monofilament.
Now if your watching your wallet i would go with mono ,because it's cheaper but I use P-Line fluorocarbon.

# test- This depends on if you want the bait to go deeper or shallower. If you use a 10# line and hold your rod tip a 6 o'clock postition then it will dive deeper and vise versa. Personally I would go with a 12-14 pond test.

For cranking I always go fluorocarbon. Berkley Vanish Transition is a good fluoro. What size test you use will depend on the cover you're working, a good standard is 14-20 though.

These baits will float back up if you don't keep cranking, which makes it great if you fish wood cover.

What exactly does everyone mean when they say they have to fine tune these baits to get them to run true?...Do they mean they have to bend the bill or something?...thanks for the help!

A:
you don't bend the bill, just bend the line tie loop, in the oposite direction if the bait travels to one side. May also have to retune after catching a good fish.

If your lure is running to the left or right you will need to tune the bait by very slightly bending the metal ring on the bill

A:
It is the line tie(not the split ring). If your bait is running more to one direction, take out your pliers and barely bend the metal piece where the split ring connects. If you are looking at the front of the crankbait, bend the metal piece the direction you want it to run to. Once it comes straight at you, stop bending.

A:
They are talking about tweaking the line-tie O-ring because the crankbait is either swimming to the left or right. This happens on many types of crankbaits, and is a quick and easy fix.
