Yes. The Rebel Bumble Bug is one of the best harbait lures for catching bluegill. I have caught many bass and bluegill on this lure, but I would recomend the Rebel Cricket because bluegill can't pass up a cricket and they will always go for it. There is also another lure I have that I have caught 40 bluegill with, its called a Johnson Beetle Spin. I have the best luck using the Beetle Spin in a green color with black stripes. Tight lines!

Yes! It is a great bream getter. It works best in overcast, low light or night conditions. A twitch and kill retrieve is very effective. A fast swim and kill retrieve is also extremely effective. This is also a great lure to use over big grass beds. If the water over the grass is at least 8" deep, this bait will call 'em up. More water over the grass beds make for an even more options to use this bait. Bass will come up and hit this little crank also, so use a longer rod and 6lb test. Hope this helps.

Yes, its a great lure for bluegills I have caught 100's of bluegill on this lure. You'll get many hits when it first hits the water and catch others on the retrieve, it runs in the top 12" of the water and the gill will just nail it.

Try 2-4 lb test line...also effective using a 1/4 oz or lighter Carolina rig.

You really can't, it will effect the performance. A longer rod and lighter line is the only thing that will remedy this problem.

try adding a swivel to the line and attach the lure. Be sure to have a light line and a sure enough good casting reel. Don't expect to catch the hawgs though.

as someone else mentioned, casting distance on these smaller mini and micro crankbaits really depends on your rod and line combination. i use a 7 1/2ft microlite rod in ultralight action, an ultralight reel and 4lb test P line, and i can cast these about 80ft+. basspro shops doesnt have the complete set of bumblebugs.i have all 5 colors, including the very hard to find ladybug pattern, which works outstanding in mountain streams in the spring and summer when ladybugs are abundant. all of the colors are hornet, junebug, bumble bee, horsefly and ladybug. also, try the rebel crawfish and the yo-zuri snap beans.

i had the same problem. What you would have to do is use a sensitive rod with light line.
Also try casting with the wind, it will help alot.
