A:
Antron is a great, sparkly material that is almost unlimited in its tying potential. The reason is that antron can be dubbed into a pattern along with the standard dubbing, just to add some reflectivity. This is a plus for those caddis patterns, since the naturals bear reflective gases in their body at various stages of development. And adding some sparkle at any stage is a plus.
There are many other patterns that benefit from using pure antron, but I'm using antron mostly to complement other dubbing materials, like the BassPro Rabbit Dubbing Assortment. The rabbit is wonderful for patterns requiring a bit of bulk and body. Spin in a little antron to boot and I think you've got something special. The fish do too!

I use a similar product (UV Ice dubbing) on many of my caddis flies and other dubbing bodied flies. I have found them to be effective for trout in my area. I use it to tie both dry and nymph patterns.
