The vise is a standard Thompson design so it does have the ability to set the angle, but once the fly is locked in, the angle is static. This is not a "rotary" vise.It will hold flies down to #20.

It will rotate somewhat, but it is not a rotating vice. smallest fly I have tied with it is a #14 but I think it would hold a #20. Maybe not as well as some of the more expensive vises but I do think it would work all the same.A:

This is a great (and cheap but not in value) little kit for starting out tying your very own flies, it comes with everything you need and instuctions on how to make everything (ala the DVD). I also am new to the whole fly fishing and tying scene and I'm more then pleased with this purchase. Also with the materials they give you your able to make other flies then the ones they list (go on the net too look or buy some books, I would deff recommend picking up some books).I personaly will be using these flys for Bass, brookies and rainbows in my area.

To shorten the answer I'll tell you what can be made with the materials available...approx 10 dry fly size 12 hooks
approx 10 dry fly size 14 hooks
Plus materials to make 20 or so dry flies including flying ants, adams fly, or elk hair caddis
approx 10 wet nymph size 12 hooks
approx 10 wet nymph size 14 hooks
Plus materials to make 20 or so pheasant tail nymph or gold ribbed hares ear
approx 10 streamer/nymph size 6 hooks
Plus materials to make 10 wooly buggers.
all of the tools and a step by step dvd instruction video are included.
There are more than enough materials to make excess flies beyond the number of hooks if you purchase more hooks. This also depends on how much material is wasted while producing flies.
You may want to buy an extra bobbin or two and a bobbin threader (approx $10-15 more dollars) but its not necessary.
I'm impressed with the amount of materials enclosed. I found it to be more than what I anticipated.

It's got marabou, hare's mask, turkey quill, a few different kinds of hackle, elk hair, and 2 kinds of dry fly hooks, 2 types of nymph hooks, a pack of streamer hooks, and a bunch of other stuff. The materials are everyting you need to tie the flies featured in the video, but you'll need a couple more tools from home.A:
