I too still have my old Red Ryder BB gun from back in the '50's, and still shoot it on occasion... However, 60 yards is a bit far, and I rather doubt it will have much, if any, effect on deer at that range... A BB gun may very well work fine for your needs, just a "little sting" to get the deer to vacate the area....but, if your distance is 60 yards, I'd suggest getting one with a bit more power than the Red Ryder... I would think that the Red Ryder may work for you out to 25, or maybe 30 yards, but not much further than that.

id say the effective range is about eighty yards for that size target, although i wouldnt shoot lead pellets are deer, use some alloy pellets because this probally will break the hideif its close enoughAnswers

The Red Ryder BB gun.......... I haven''t looked to see for sure, but I'd guess in the neighborhood of 300 fps.... And this is a "one-cock-one-shot" BB gun... You cock it once and shoot it, then cock it again and shoot it again... After the initial cock of the lever, it's cocked...and no more "cocking movements" of the lever will have any effect.. After it's cocked, it's cocked... It is not a "pump-up" gun.
